About Rotas Afro

Rotas Afro presents the Black history of cities through cultural itineraries

Our work promotes the right to memory and contributes to the construction of positive images of Black people in Brazil. Nationally recognized, Rotas Afro received the Rodrigo Melo Franco Award from IPHAN (2023) and was named a Memory Point by IBRAM. We operate in the cities of Piracicaba, Campinas, Vinhedo, Rio Claro, and Sorocaba.
Rotas Afro connects you with sites and stories of Black heritage in the interior of the state of São Paulo through Afro-tourism.

In addition to the itineraries open to the public, the project has two main focus areas:

Rotas Afro in Schools

contributes to multicultural education by helping teachers and schools comply with Brazilian Law 10.639/03 through cultural and educational tours that present the Black history of cities.

Rotas Afro XR

Immersive collection of works in Virtual and Augmented Reality that preserve and value Black history through technology.

XR COLLECTION

Rotas Afro XR is a multimedia, interactive, and immersive project that uses extended realities (XR) to narrate and reclaim Afro-Brazilian stories, especially those set in the interior of São Paulo, in a playful way and with high potential for distribution and impact.
Our work empowers the right to memory and contributes to building positive images of Black people in Brazil.
