Deolinda Madre, or as she became affectionately known, Madrinha Eunice (Godmother Eunice), was born in a time of challenges and resistance, but it was in her heart that the rhythm that would unite generations pulsed. In 1937, in the Liberdade neighborhood, she founded the Lavapés Samba School, the first in São Paulo. A space of culture, celebration and, above all, resistance.
